- It's high Cholesterol....it's usually from being overweight and eating too much unhealthy fats and unhealthy foods.....and to gain control of it you should eat healthy fats instead (Olive Oil). You should also try to lose a few pounds...get exercise...and replace cows milk with Soymilk. I did this stuff..and it lowered my Triglycerides to a healthy level.
- Triglyceride is a type of fat that is always circulating in the blood, especially after a meal high in saturated fat. These fat particles are normally broken down by enzymes. When that process is not working efficiently, the triglycerides that are only partially broken down can cause fatty deposits in blood vessels, leading to atherosclerosis, known as hardening of the arteries. Triglycerides have also been shown to increase the risk of blood clots, which combine with fatty deposits in the coronary vessels to cause heart attacks. Researchers have found that triglyceride is an independent risk factor for heart disease, even at lower levels. A triglyceride level of 200 mg/dl or less as desirable. Mya was wrong, it is not high cholesterol. They are a variety of causes ranging from genetics and diabetes to obesity, diet, and lack of exercise. To control triglycerides, you need to control your weight and exercise regularly. A low fat diet will help. You also need to have your blood tested for triglycerides when you have blood work done for your physical. If diet and exercise alone do not control the levels, then drugs are available which can bring down the levels. Myself, I use Tricor 145mg 1 tablet per day.
