Anyone with a diet to lower triglyceride levels?
Blood test just came back and my doctor told me I have high levels of triglyceride, and I should try to lower it. He recomended Omega 3 suppliments, but I want to try diet and excercise first. I live in Mexico now, and carbohydrates and meat are all over the place...

- Carbs are fine... they have no fat in them at all, they are sugars. If you want to lower your trigly count then stop eating fats. The omega 3 suppliments would still be necessary as your body can produce those fats on its own, and they are necessary for normal functioning (yes your body needs fat). So... no more fat, and take those omega 3's. Exercise too.
- Reduce your high carb intake as your body gets enough from your diet unless your an athlete and carbohydrate disorders are usually done through sugar tests. Reduce your red meat intake because of the saturated fat content which elevates the triglyceride level in your blood. Take a good quality pharmaceutical grade Omega-3 and eat more white meat. If your a red meat lover, treat yourself to a good quality steak with the fat trimmed once a week. Exercise is good but don't over do it because if you use more carbs than you take in, your body will store fat. Remember that carbohydrates are the fuel for your energy. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables as they provide all your vitamins, minerals, good sugars, fiber and carbohydrates for a healthy weight loss.
