  1. Well, it doesn't hurt. However you need to decrease your sugar intake.
  2. That's what my husbands doctor suggested. Well, low sugar. Fiber is ok (which is what most of the carbs are in whole grain) because the body doesn't absorb it, just passes it. And guess what--his triglycerides went from close to 200 down to 80!
  3. I wouldn't do it without strict supervision of a doctor testing your blood levels regularly.
  4. Yes, it's okay. Low carb diets usually help bring high triglyceride levels down. Just be sure you're getting enough of the other nutrients, and it wouldn't hurt to add an exercise regime to your life. Exercise also helps control high triglycerides. And - it's a heck of a lot cheaper than drugs! If you're not sure you're really eating right, ask your doctor for a referral to a registered dietician, who can help you devise a dietary program to fit your personal needs.
  5. Yes, in fact, that is the cure. I had high triglycerides. After just 2 months of low carb, they were at 40% of their former levels. It is important, triglycerides can block your arteries and cause a heart attack which can be fatal. On a side note, there is no such thing as a "no carb" diet. That come from idiots who say " oh my god Atkins is teh bad!! You get no carbs and eat lard patties and drink bacon grease all day! You kidnee asplode tehn you die!!!!!!!!!!!!" I have found you can make anythng low carb. Just read up on recipies.
