Can triglycerides test be wrong?
I just turned 29 years 3 day's ago and I took my blood test. well the Doctor said my triglycerides are 990. I don't understand how that can be.. am a little overweight, but not that bad. I am young and I feel fine.. Can the lab be wrong? I am going to be a surrogate and the doctor said I can not take the med's if I am going to have a baby. Does anyone know of a safe way I can lower my triglycerides without med's from the doctor?

- You need to find out your blood glucose and A1C. Lopid will lower triglycerides. If you are already pregnant it could be gestational diabetes. Somethings wrong and you need to address it. Cut out all sugars
- Their is a condition on hyperlipidemia and these people can take medication, low fat diet, exercise, and it is a constant battle. My mother had it. When she had it under control her triglycerides would be in the 600's. Normal is below 200. And yes lab tests can be wrong and you should have them retest you and make sure that you are fasting preferably early in the morning. Also a second opinion may be good. God Bless.
- If you ate before the test or didn't follow the proper fasting regimen before the blood test that can affect the lab values. To help lower TG you can improve your diet (low-fat diets), increase physical activity, lose weight. Medications you should ask your doctor about are fish oil supplements, Nicotinic Acid (Niacin), or Fibrates like (Gemfibrozil) or (Fenofibrate). However, lifestyle changes of eating better and exercising will show the best improvements.
