Triglycerides

My doctor just told me that my triglycerides are high. He recommended fish oil pills x3perday.?

Ok I know I am overweight. Yet I never suspected triglycerides to be high and I am not 100% I even know what triglycerides are. I read the info online about them and it seems to be very confusing. How do you lower your triglycerides and get healthy? The fat just doesn't seem to want to go in my mid-section. So what now? And which fish oil supplements won't make me smell like fish? or taste it? I heard they made you burp yucky smelling ugh! I don't eat a whole lot of red meat but I will cut it out 95% if that's what it takes.

  1. I am surprised your doc didn't recommend you cut out the red meat, only because mine did when my triglycerides were high.
  2. You can also use flax seed oil which drives down your bad cholesterol and triglycerides. It doesn't have the bad smelling burps.
  3. You just need to try different brands until you find one that works for you. Flax seeds or flax seed oil would do just about the same thing. You can get it at just about any health food store or grocery stores. I buy flax seeds from the dairy section of my local Safeway. You can also increase your intake of fish.
  4. Yes they do occasionally make you burp a little and yes a odour comes from your breathe when this happens but last for less than a second. Just start taking them and hope for the best! Good luck!
  5. there are a number of things you can get to help with the triglceride problem. flax seed oil is great. trader joe's has a non fishy version of the fish oil gel tabs. I have them, and have honestly never had any sort of fish taste or smell like fish. try: Trader Joe's Omega-3 Fatty Acides Dietary Supplement Odorless EfaGold Mega EFA Blend 3/6/9 my doctor recommended the EfaGold one to me because my cholesterol is high.
