Cholesterol, Weight, Fish Oil, How Long Roughly Til It Lowers?

My Cholesterol is 221 HDL is 35.0 LDL 119.4 VLDL 75.6 Triglycerides 378 I was ove 250 pounds because of long term use of prednisone b/c of my lupus. I am currently at 185 pounds. I had my blood work done about a month and half ago. My doctor just put me on fish oil prescription to help with the cholesterol. I was 199 2 months ago so diet and exercising is working, but I was wondering how long roughly does fish oil and the diet and exercise take to lower the cholesterol. When should I have more blood work done. High cholesterol and heart problems run in my family I just want to do all that I can incase I need to take other medication if the diet and exercise is not enough. I am hoping the fish oil helps. I just don't know how long til I should weight to have my blood work done? Any information on weight, exercise, fish oil, cholesterol, or anything related would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. Avoid fried foods. take small quantity of boiled fish, apricot and high quality nuts. Generally speaking Tri glycerides can be reduced with exercise and low intake of calories. take fibrous food .it lowers cholestrol.Check you BMI and reduce your weight so that BMI is within 24. Do aerobics and exercises as per your general health. Get tested for diabetes. take oat meal in breakfast. It helps.
  2. What you want is a book called "The Rosedale Diet". You are on the right track with the fish oil but likely need to improve other stuff in your diet too. The Rosedale Diet is very effective at this and a very satisfying (ie no hunger) and healthy way to eat. It's also extremely helpful with the weight issue.
