- Tell you doctor about this no one can have 200 c. its 1000 hes worng.
- Cholesterol and triglycerides are two separate numbers. They are linked, and often when one is high the other will be too. When triglyceride levels rise, HDL (good cholesterol) goes down. This is not a good thing. Did you fast prior to your blood work? Eating something within the fasting period can make the numbers skyrocket. Edit: Yes, you can have a cholesterol level of 200. Mine is 199.
- Nikki, that can be correct. Cholesterol is the buildup of plaque on the walls of your arteries. Triglycerides is the fat content in your blood itself. What you eat before your blood test can make this number fluctuate. You can control these numbers with medication and proper diet, but a lot of is due to heredity. Both of these numbers should be under 150, 200 if you are over 50 which you sound like you are not. Good luck, mgby
- If I remember right, my chol was around 200 and triglycerides were 220. I was eating out a lot, quite a bit of fast food, and drinking 1 to 2 cokes a day. Clean up your diet, preferably closer to vegetarian to fix this naturally without drugs and by addressing the CAUSE rather than the SYMPTOM.
