Triglycerides

How to lower Triglycerides, Glucose Serum, and total Cholestrol?

I recently had a major physical for a job. Part of the physical was doing blood work. The things that came back high are: Glucose 109..Range should be 65-99, Cholesterol 247 range should be 100-199 and Triglycides 297 range should be 0-149. Now I havent been to the Doctors in a couple of years. I passed the physical but they said I should speak to someone about these issues via a letter. Any suggestions would be great!

  1. Increase activity (exercise), increase fiber, natural supplement-garlic. Decrease fat intake. Increase fresh fruits and veggies.
  2. Triglycerides was one of my major problems. I ate a lot of bread which is very high in Tri's. White is the worst but taste the best :) wheat is the healthily choice , and sweets or a no no..I take Vytorin from my doctor. which is wonderful.I have wonderful numbers now. Glucose stay away from the soda for sure. Hope this helps.
  3. Regular Soda Pop and alcohol can raise glucose and triglycerides. I would be concerned about the high glucose. If it continues high you should have a fasting glucose to check for diabetes. Also, if you are overweight you should lose weight and increase physical activity. Increasing fiber in your diet will also help control cholesterol.
  4. Saturated fat is the main dietary cause of high blood cholesterol. Saturated fat is found mostly in foods from animals and some plants. Foods from animals include beef, beef fat, veal, lamb, pork, lard, poultry fat, butter, cream, milk, cheeses and other dairy products made from whole and 2 percent milk. All of these foods also contain dietary cholesterol. Foods from plants that contain saturated fat include coconut, coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil (often called tropical oils), and cocoa butter.
  5. Absolutly. You never can be sure of any condition. I keep an eye on mine always.
