Triglycerides

Can the birth control pill cause high triglycerides?

My tryglycerides are 320, and I saw on a website, that birth control pills, can be one of the causes. I have been taking the pill for 9 years. It really helps with my PMS , and at my age I wouldn't want to get pregnant. The doctor says I can only be on them a couple more years.

  1. Maybe, maybe not. It can be due to diet and genetics too. But, there is medication to get your triglycerides down. I have been on the pill for 14 years. In 1997 my triglycerides were high and I was put on medication to lower them. I'm staying on the pill until I hit menopause. I just have to watch my diet and exercise. I would switch doctors.
