Normal Triglycerides Questions

If I reduce the fat in my body to the normal levels, will the Triglycerides content go down as well? I would like to know if there is any relationship to the amount of triglycerides and total-body-fat, could not find much from sites like http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=4778

Yes I am on a modified Mediteranean diet with olive oil & fish. Yes I do "snack" on peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. Also eating various nuts in small quantities especially almonds & walnuts. My last blood test(Nov 30 07) showed 332 for triglycerides, which I know is high; my cholesterol is normal.? I've been taking creatinine and protein shakes for the last 3 months; I work out 5 days a week and do cardio at least 3 times a week, and that's the time the triglycerides went up from 172 in July 07 to 332 in Nov 07. I eat very healthy and do a lot of exercise and cardio; I'm very muscular so I'm a big guy for my height but I only have 20% fat weight. Is this increase in triglycerides normal in such a short period of time? and is there a study showing that creatinine and protein suplements can affect the liver producing more triglycerides; my kidney doctor ckeched the kidney functions and glucose and all that hasn't been affected at all. Please advice.

Are there trigylcerides in lymph fluid, what is the significance and is there a normal value? We sent aspiration fluid and a trigylceride level was ordered. We have no levels for normal but a triglyceride value was computed. I would like to know if lymph fluid normally contains triglycerides, if so what level and if not what would be the significance of the presence? The aspiration was on a patient with a breast implant who developed a collection of fluid and some of the fluid was aspirated from the breast and certain that it was not from the implant.

Would anyone happen to know the normal lab values of cholesterol screenings? I would like to know the normals specifically for HDL, Triglycerides, and the LDL, or if anyone can find a website they might be on? Thank you for your time and kindness.
Underweight, normal cholesterol, but very high triglycerides? At 90ish lbs I'm slightly underweight (according to my Body Mass Index of 18), I don't eat more than 1000 calories a day (not much of an appetite), and my total cholesterol is 180 (HDL 55, LDL unknown), BUT my triglyceride level is 500 (which is too high for accurate LDL calculation). This was after 12 hours of fasting, and no one in my family has high triglycerides. I had the test done at a free community screening event, and won't have health insurance or a doctor until about a month or so from now. In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas about my high triglycerides or if I should be concerned? (I know I at least don't have to worry about pancreatitis because that usually only occurs with triglyceride levels above 1000.) Thanks for any help! Also, my glucose level (72) was normal, so diabetes is not a concern.

I am not losing weight, I am overweight, I'm 5'2" 140 lb. My dad has to test his blood sugar several times a day (does not yet take medication) and my paternal grandmother has diabetes, but my blood sugar came back 87. If your triglyceride level is very high but your blood sugar is normal, what are your treatment options? Eating a low-fat diet is probably a good idea. It's easier said than done. Let's face it. We Americans love high-fat diet. What other treatment options do you have? What are the pros and cons of each option? Where can I learn more on each treatment option?
How cool is this..new cholesterol count within normal range? 5 years ago I had a really bad cholesterol rating, and very high triglyceride count, today I got my new results back and both are within the normal range. Although this is great news,I've done nothing different in the last 5 years eg....change diet, give up smoking, exercise more etc.I've pretty much carried on as normal, why do you think my count has dropped to a normal range?
High Cholesterol and normal trigclycerides levels? Hi there, My husband was just told he has high cholesterol a total of 240. His Hdl was 42 and his Ldl was179 however and that his triglyceride level was normal. I have no number on this. But from everything i've been reading is this even possible? I should add that he is 31 and not overweight (5 ft 11 and weighs 160) and his mom has borderline high cholesterol.

Highest triglyceride level ever recorded in a male I'm curious... my girlfriends uncle had a heart attack last night... he's doing fine now, but he's in his early 40's and I researched that normal triglyceride levels range between 150 to 250 ...his was 2900! I'm wondering if that is a mistake because... with all do respect, that comes off fatal anyone know the highest level of triglyceride in a human male?
Please Help! My triglycerides are sky high! Why is this? About 6 months ago I had a lab test, and my cholesterol was about 200, HDL, and LDL were perfect, but my triglycerides were 970! I was started on a high dose of Vytorin, and several months later my triglycerides came down to about 485. Well, I just had another blood test yesterday, and my triglycerides are back up to 587. My cholesterol is 169 and the other tests are completely in normal range. I am not overweight, and eat a pretty healthy diet. Could this be hereditary? My aunt also has high triglycerides, but her other lipids are normal. Any good suggestions on what I should do? I see the dr. on Monday. Thanks in advance!
High triglycerides? I was diagnosed with high triglycerides, but normal cholestrol. Whats wrong with having high triglycerides? I was on medicine but quit it cuz I don't know why I should worry about it.
I just found out that I have low triglycerides. Is this a problem? My triglyceride level is 59. The chart said over 64 was normal. However, my LDL is a little high at 106, and my total isn't spectacular at 182. My HDL is 64. Is there a doc in the house with a professional opinion?
Triglycerides? What's the difference between cholesterol and triglycerides? What if your cholesterol levels are normal but your triglyceride levels are elevated? Do triglycerides come from the liver like cholesterol, or are they just fat?
My TSH is 3.6, I have high cholestrol & triglycerides- could I still have hypothyroidism? I read up that hypo thyroidism normal range has been changed. It also affects cholestrol and triglycerides. Do u think I may still have hypothyroidism. I have classic symtoms- fatigue, lot of weight gain, puffed up face. I exercise for 45 minutes - 200 calories 3 times a week. No weight loss. I have fruits and veggies.
Why would 3 of 4 blood samples from the same person at the same time show normal lvl's of testosterone? I had 4 samples of blood taken from me to do a variety of tests. One of which was to test for the level of testosterone. I called today and was told "well, three are normal but this one isnt and I dont know why". I ended up getting an appt scheduled to see the doctor on Monday. There were a total of four tests to be done: Cholesterol, CBC, Glucose levels (and other stuff on that list that were similar) and testosterone. Would they take a sample from each vial of blood and run a testosterone check on it? or would one vial be dedicated for each test (as I would normally think it would be). I'm wondering if the testosterone was low and the girl didnt want to elaborate on it over the phone. I called yesterday and was told that the testosterone report wasnt back yet but the others were and that the CBC and Cholesterol was fine and my triglycerides were just a little high. Any opinions?
Many years are passing that I have the triglyceride blood problem, usually five times of normal range, why? no cholestrol problem , no problem in normal life , and no pain in feet , nothing else but only the range of 1500 without any medicine. some medicine doctors has told me that it is genetic problem with out causing any defection in body , I can't accept and what shall I do?

EXTREMELY High Triglycerides ??? ? My dad is 40 and has high blood pressure and high cholesterol ( all these things run in the family ) & his triglycerides are 444 ( normal is 150) so his are REALLY right. He has changed to eating aol meal and Cheerios for breakfast rather than Egg and bacon or sausage ( something he has been eating his whole life). Also he is now eating whole wheal bread and light butter. He is also starting to exercises regularly. So, now that you have the basics, my question is..... what are some low cholesterol & low saturated fat meals he can eat? (please include recipes and Cholesterol and saturated fat content if possible.) Thanks in advance!
If all of your numbers are within normal range, but your TOTAL cholesterol is over 200, is that still bad? ------------------------------ Here are my numbers... ===== 235 - Total Cholesterol ===== 120 - LDL (Bad Cholesterol) ===== 105 - HDL (Good Cholesterol) ===== 54 - Triglyceride ------------------------------ Here are the "normal" ranges according to the South Beach diet... ===== Total cholesterol at or below 200 mg/dL ===== LDL cholesterol at or near an optimal level of 100 to 129 mg/dL ===== HDL cholesterol at or above 60 mg/dL ===== Triglycerides at or below 150 mg/dL ------------------------------ However, I think my total cholesterol is over 200 because my good cholesterol is so high. Can that be right?
Question about Triglycerides? My dad just got some test results. His HDL and LDL cholesterol levels are good. He takes a cholesterol-lowering drug. I think it's Lipitor. However, his Triglycerides are 217. The normal range is 0-150. Why is this and what can he do about it? He fasted before the test.
What LDL Cholesterol level is consider risk fator? My friend just have the blood test, The Triglycerides is 170, The normal range is 30-150 What is level of LDL and Triglycerides is consider risk factor and may face heart attack.
Triglycerides waaaaaaaay too high!? My total cholesterol is normal but my doc said my Triglycerides are waaaaaaaaaaay too high....they've hit the 200's and two years ago were normal. I'm not a big steak eater....I don't eat fast food....I actually competed in an Ironman in 2004, I do yoga, and brazilian jiu jitsu. What could cause my tri's to shoot up so high? I read that I'm at risk for heart attack but I'm only 35. WTH!!! Could stress raise my tris?

Can a damaged liver cause a high triglyceride count? I recently had a blood test and they told me that my liver enzynes were up meening I had a damaged liver. I just got my cholesterol checked and my cholesteral is normal so is my good cholesteral but my triglycerides are through the roof.
Is level of cholesterol and triglyceride affected by blood group A,B and O? Can a person have dwarf blood vessels while cholesterol and triglyceride in normal level?
"Slightly elevated" triglycerides? My doctor's office called with my recent lab results...I will get a full report in the mail..but I was told everything was within normal ranges, except that my triglyceride level was slightly elevated. I was told to take fish oil supplements (1000mg) four times a day. I started Nutrisystem one month ago, and just received my second month's shipment. I have noticed there are a lot of carbs in this food...way more than I used to eat as I avoided carbs thinking that would make me gain more weight. So far I have lost nine pounds, per this morning's scales reading. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience...if possibly the Nutrisystem diet is causing this result...NS has its own website, but I don't trust it as much as there are a lot of fans of NS on line. So, if you have anything for me, I'll be waiting to hear..Thanks!
Underweight, normal cholesterol, but very high triglycerides? Triglycerides question please? I had a routine blood test as I always do to check my thyroid since I have hyperthyroidism...so the results came back and my doctor called me and told me to increase my thyroid medication to every day...that's all good and fine. But since she was ordering other tests to be done besides the thyroid, I asked if they came back ok...she said all was fine and normal....THANK goodness...EXCEPT, she said my TRIGLYCERIDES were high... Ok so I said what should I do? She said exercise and cut back on carbohydrates and rice...I said I always exercise and I don't even eat rice but once in a blue moon. And because she's a BUSY endocrynologist, she kinda talked fast and I couldn't ask her anything else. SO, does anyone know what triglycerides are and is it harmful if they're too high?
Mystery medical case - high triglycerides.? Please help! My mother has been going to doctor after doctor trying to figure out what is wrong with her. She has a history of obesity but lost some weight through Nutrisystem and then started a regimen of walking five times a week. She had to stop because her feet and ankles were swelling profusely (like baseballs) and she was having electrifying pain up her legs. I thought it was because she was overweight, but the amount of pain she was experiencing was not commensurate with her weight. The doctors told her that it wasn't normal to have such pain. Additionally, her triglycerides are sky-high (even with meds), she has overall high cholesterol, and after eating, experiences swelling and hardness in her stomach along with gas. I am nervous because there is a history of internal cancers in my family. The doctor knows about the history, but has yet to find anything. I also worry because my mother has a large stomach that would make it more difficult to find tumors or abnormal growths. I am hoping that these symptoms may ring a bell to someone out there. Any serious suggestions I can look into are welcome. Also, I should have added that she had her gallbladder removed 15 years ago. It was full of gallstones - I am not sure if it was removed for that reason or a different one.
triglycerides Question? When I went for my annual check up my bp was fine...and so was my LDL's & HDL's but my triglycerides were on the high side. My doc said not to worry. Is this normal?
I just found out my SGPT levels are elevated to 63 when normal levels are 40. What could be the cause of this? Only the SGPT levels are elevated. All other levels on liver panel are normal. I do show elevated levels of Triglycerides on the lipid profile and elevated PSA on the blood panel. I don't feel any pain and my urine function seems fine. My cholesterol is also elevated. I am afraid I may have cancer. My daughter says it may be due to my diet and because of my joint pain, I have been taking aspirin and spraying this chinese analgesic lotion to relieve the pain. Could that be it? Also I have been taking Move Free to aid my joint pain but it is made with shellfish which elevates my cholesterol. Do you have any suggestions to any alternatives I can take or how I can control my cholesterol while on this medication?
What influences has increase in Triglycerides? twice of maximum normal range

Triglicerides high but all other cholestoral normal should I worry? Got my lab test back today and my Dr said that my LDL, HDL, and Total Cholestoral were good but my Triglycerides were high at 290. He told me to double up on taking my Fish oil pills. He also said he wouldnt lose any sleep over it. On my last cholestoral screening I had 6 months ago my HDL was to low and now that has gone up to normal so thats good and even my LDL that was normal last time has gone down even more. I just get nervous because I have a panic attacks sometimes and worry. Anyone else have same issue? im 30 years old by the way. I have Diabetics in the family. Im not however. I did fast before test.
please tell me how to bring triglyceride count down from 650 up to normal at 150? triglyceride level of this order is an open invitation to stroke and hence anxious to get the proper advise. i have been doing regular walking excercise 3 Km daily and taking one tablet of atocor 20 mg and repace tablet of 50 mg daily for last three years with little improvement
How can one treat chronic headache? The following conditions are rulled out, -no hypertension -ESR,CBC ,TRIGLYCERIDES AND CHOLESTROL HAVE NORMAL VALUE. -NO SINUS
triglycerides and hypothyroidism? My bf went into the hospital back in april i think after he drank too much and he has had stomach problems ever since. We got the results of his blood work a few days ago and his trigylceride count is 311. Normal is 50-149. He also has an underactive thyroid(if he doesnt take his pill everyday his thyroid almost doesnt work at all). I went back and looked at his other blood work results and in march his triglyceride count was at 91, in july it was 205. He also has bad cholesterol, his good is a little low and his bad is a little high. I went onto webmd and on there it said that having high triglyceride count can be a result of under active thyroid, and bad cholesterol and can cause heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is most commonly caused by binge drinking(which he used to do). Could his binge drinking over the last 3 or 4 years have caused all of this? He has a doctor appt tomorrow, has anyone else been through this?

Triglycerides? In a blood test after fasting today my triglycerides are 4380 (normal being about 200). Is that a record?
I was declined for medical insurance. Why? I'm 54 and in good health. Last year about this time I applied for a medical insurance policy outside of my employment. I applied with Blue Shield. I currently take medication for high cholesterol, the lowest dosage possible for borderline high blood pressure, and I've been on levothyroxin for hypothyroidism for about 20 years. I'm with the same doctor as last year and my blood work this year was fantastic! (Below 200 cholesterol, blood pressure normal, triglycerides normal, etc) Last year I was approved with this company and yes they had requested my medical records. I chose not to accept it last year because I went with my husband's employer's plan instead. This year I applied with the same company and I just found out I was denied. What is the logic? Is there anything I can do about the denial and if there isn't what can I do to look more favorable in the future. (Yes, I'm about 30 lbs overweight, the same amount I was last year.) Thanks for your help.)
My total cholesterol is 249, triglycerides is 104 mg/dl, HDL 90, LDL 134, VLDL21. Do I need to be concerned? I am 100lbs, 5 feet tall and 53 years old. Don't exercise and have reseanably decent food habits. Never smoked, don't drink. My confusion arises from the conflict between (a) the bad high LDL score and (b( the really good HDL score, the really good total to HDL ratio, the really good LDL to HDL ratio. A related question I have is whether I can deduct say, 40 points, off the total cholesterol score on the basis that if I have normal rather than extra good HDL scores it would be about 40 points less. That would leave my total score closer to 200. Doctor left message along with scores saying everything is fine. Always had low blood pressure, no diabetes, family history of anything, any other risk factors, 67 heart rate. Does eat oatmeal now and then but usually omit breakfast. I do eat double digit helpings of fruit and vege very very often. Have good knowledge about cholesterol and have researched internet extensively. Could not find anything specific answering my question.
What does it mean if one has high cholesterol(240) but the LDL is (126),HDL is (92)and triglycerides are(106)? The HDL of 92 is considered to be abnormally high but I have read that the higher your HDL's are, the more you are protected against heart disease. I am very confused - a total of 240 cholesterol is supposed to be bad but if the HDL's are higher than normal what do these numbers really mean? Would someone with these given levels need to consider medication? If so wouldn't the medication lower the good cholesterol (HDL's) too?
My total cholesterol is 154. Is that normal? I had the wrong amount of total cholesterol in my last question. My triglycerides is 54 (60-210). HDL is 52 and my LDL is 92. HDL (35-55) LDL (0-100) Total cholesterol (110-200) Mine is 154. I go see my cardiologist on Thursday and he never told me to watch what I eat since my family history of heart problems starts with cholesterol. I eat a lot of fried foods. What should I do? I also have supraventricular tachycardia and dyspnea. My family has had all kinds of heart problems and I don't know what to do. I like caffeine and fried foods. Should I quit both?
what is the normal # for triglicerides? I have a high triglyceride count I need info on this.

A 45-year-old man who has had a myocardial infarction is found to have a serum cholestrol of 6.4 mmmol/l.Hi 5.A 45-year-old man who has had a myocardial infarction is found to have a serum cholestrol of 6.4 mmmol/l.His triglycerides are normal and the LDL cholestrol is the fraction raised. He is given a low-cholestrol diet but his serum cholestrol does not improve over the next three months. Will lowering the patient’s serum cholestrol substantially reduce the risk of further episodes of ischaemic heart disease?
I need Help about food and diet. Please be serious!? O.K. I had fasting labs done a wk. ago and I got the results today and I'm shocked!! I'm also being put on Lipitor. Thanks in advance for your answers and recipes or whatever u have for me! Lay it on me!!!!
Thyroid Problem? About a year ago, I started having some problems. I gained 20 pounds in six weeks, during that time my knees started killing me, and my menstrual cycle went completely awry, all at the same time. I finally went to a doctor in July of last year. He thought it might be my thyroid, and ran an ultrasound and found my thyroid is enlarged, but my hormone levels appeared to be ok, except my T4 level which was at 1.0. In 2003, I had problems with LOSING too much weight... and also had a thyroid scan. My thyroid was not enlarged then, and I had a T4 level of 2.2. Also in July, my cholesterol was at 300. I went on meds, exercised and ate right (still do) and got my LDL down to 100 in two months, Now, it is normal although my triglycerides are still high, and I've been taken off the meds, but I'm still having problems with my knees and my menstrual cycle (I get it every few weeks or not at all). Should I get a second opinion on my thyroid? Forgot to add here, I'm only 25 years old with no family history of cholesterol problems.
A question about cholesterol.? Every year when I get my bloodwork done, my cholesterol is always a little on the high side. My triglycerides are usually normal, and my HDL is usually high, but my LDL is usually also a little on the high side. This most recent time, my total was 225, my triglycerides was in the normal range (I forget the exact number), my HDL was 76, and my LDL was 134. I know that my HDL is very good, but my LDL is higher than it should be. Is that something for me to worry about?
Given these laboratory results, what can you recommend? Hello, I hope you have the time to give me some suggestions/comments when it comes to my lab results. I was tested earlier this morning. I won't be back to the doctor's office until next week. For now, I hope you can give your suggestions that I can follow for the following days. URINALYSIS Sugar: Negative Albumin: Trace Pus: 0-2/HPF BLOOD CHEM (expressed in mmol/l) Glucose: 4.53 (normal: 3.89-5.84) Creatinine: 77.37 (normal: M:57-92) Cholesterol: 4.53 (normal:3.9-6.18) Triglycerides: 1.16 (normal: 0.45-1.86) HDL: .90 (M: 1.04-1.3) LDL: 3.10 (0-4.0) Guys, I'm worried about the traces of albumin in urine (yeah, I do love to eat meat) and my HDL (it's low. what do you mean by that?). What can you I do to make me normalize the results next time? Like I said, my next appointment is still next week. I'm still 17. years old. Thank you all!

Why aren't I losing the weight? HELP!!!? I'm a female 29, 5'2" 200 pounds. On 2/5 I cut my calories from 3500-4000 to 1,200 a day and started working out 5 days a week, 2-30 minute cardio sessions daily (stat bike and treadmill) plus weights. I have only lost .2 pounds. I went to the doctor she said something had to be wrong so I had blood work done: BP 110/80 Sugar: 87 Cholesterol: 169 HDL (good chol): 33 LDL (bad chol): 96 Triglycerides: 200 Thyroid: normal (all it said) I also saw a dietician who looked over my daily food journal and she swears I'm eating all the right food, plenty of fiber, vegetables and protein. I drink nothing but water. My doc is sending me to an Endocrinologist but he can't see me until the end of May. I can't stand to wait that long. I'm desperate. I've been working so hard for so long with no results. I'm lookig for any ideas perferibly with medical expertise as to what I can do. Should I keep up my eating and working out while I wait to see the doc? HELP!!!!!! No I do not drink alcohol at all No I have not seen any difference in the way my clothes fit. Also I don't do yoga. I ride a stat bik 7 miles in 30 mins and I walk 1.7 miles in 30 mins and check my heart rate to be sure it's around 165-170
