Triglycerides Level Questions
My husband is 43 years old and has a 535 triglycerides level in blood? he doesn't exercise, has a large waist, has high preprandial glucose BUT doesn't want to change his lifestyle. I have recommended befoere letting people hit rock bottom but in this case every day that passes is another day of very high coronary risk for him. Do you have suggestions as on how to make him understand he has to do something about it?
Highest triglyceride level ever recorded in a male I'm curious... my girlfriends uncle had a heart attack last night... he's doing fine now, but he's in his early 40's and I researched that normal triglyceride levels range between 150 to 250 ...his was 2900! I'm wondering if that is a mistake because... with all do respect, that comes off fatal anyone know the highest level of triglyceride in a human male?
Can the pill increase my triglyceride level? I switched pill in Jan/07. Last week I did blood analysis and my triglyceride level was extremely high (237, when the max. is 180). Can this be caused by the pill I'm now taking? I have a rather healthy diet, and I rarely eat fast food, especially because my blood analysis in Jan/07 showed that my triglyceride level was already at 198, so I was aware that I had to be careful about that...
what does a 129 hemoglobin level mean? I see my doctor tomorrow. I asked this question once but I think that I phrased it wrong. I have been having test done on a regular basis for the last 4 months. Today the nurse told me that the a1c test shows that my average blood sugar level was 129 for the last 3 months. I have high triglyceride levels. They were in the 400's now they are in the high 500's. I have changed my eating habits. I only dropped 15 lbs but I have lost 4 pants sizes. These results are worse than the ones I took before I made changes in my diet. I have a slightly enlarged heart but my echo was normal. Do I need to be worried?
Could an elevated triglyceride level cause numbness and pain in the feet due to circulatory problems? Or would a cervical spine injury I have had for years be a more likely cause of numbness in my feet? I have been to my doctor, but she put me on antidepressants and gapabentin and it really did nothing. Recently I lost my health insurance and was unable to refill my prozac and gapabentin scripts. So far, I haven't noticed any difference in my feet or my mood. My feet are still numb and painful and at times it's hard to just get up and do daily chores. It's getting to me. I have lost close to fifty pounds in the last 6 or 7 months thinking that it would maybe help my feet, but they continue to get worse. What started out as 3 toes on my right foot, has turned into numbness in both my feet all the way to the ankle. Any advise?
My boyfriend has a triglyceride level of 3,570 - put on Tricor but it's not working too well. Any ideas? His total cholesterol is 378; HDL is 29; Chol/HDLC ratio is 13.0 He was prescribed 500mg of Niaspan, 10mg of Zetia and don't have the tricor here to give dosage. Mentioned a low carb diet and referred him to a nutritionist - appt. next week. He is 5'11 and 250 lbs. I haven't found anything about triglyceride levels this high - should I recommend him to see a cardiologist? I am very worried. He is definitely also under a lot of stress due to his career.
Question regarding cholesterol and triglycerides? I am in my early 20s. I just got my cholesterol checked today, and it most certainly not good. But the funny thing is, my triglyceride level was very low - way below 150 mg/dL. How can that be? Does this mean that my high cholesterol is due to my diet? Thanks in advance!!
Besides conventional medication, what kind of non-traditional medication reduces triglycerides? I'm interested in finding out if anybody has experimented with non-traditional (herbs, etc) ways to reduce either their cholesterol or triglyceride levels? I am currently taking gemfibrozil & niaspan (2000 mg) and I can't get below 400 on my triglyceride level. It was 1,400. It is genetic, but I could still help myself out by eating better, believe me. Easier said than done, though. I worry about my liver functions holding up over time with the conventional medications. Last summer I was in the best shape of my life and I still had high ldl, low hdl and high triglycerides. Much improved, but still not a pretty picture.
High Triglyceride Level and Fasting? During my recent physical, my triglycerides came back at 1480, dangerously high. However, the people at this office did NOT tell me to fast before the test. The night before, my wife and I celebrated her birthday by basically pigging out on fatty foods (steak for dinner; cake for dessert; 2 glasses of wine each). I also had a glass of OJ that morning before the test, as well as a couple bites of the birthday cake (a crappy breakfast, I know). My blood sugar was elevated as well, which I'm pretty sure was due to the sugary stuff I had with no fast. Would that admittedly crappy diet have an effect on my triglyceride levels? I'm thinking about switching doctors because I didn't even know my triglycerides were that high until I requested my medical records. He didn't tell me about the results of the triglycerides, only the blood sugar level. His response, coupled with the ineffectiveness of the office in not telling me to fast, has not inspired me with confidence. Time to switch?
How do I lower triglyceride levels? I asked you guys about how serious is an enlarged heart last month. Since then I have found out that my triglyceride level is 437 and that my hemoglobin count is 14. The highest it should be is 15. I was told I am heading for diabetes. I have lost 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks (308 to 300). What can I do to lower my levels without medication. I don't have another consult with the doctor for a week.
What does a cholesterol level of 5.5 mean? I've just had a blood test done and my GP has told me that my cholesterol is 5.5 and that I appear to have elevated levels of triglycerides. I'd like some information on what this means, if anyone can help. Thanks. David.
High Triglyceride Level? Hi...I am 42 and have a fairly normal lipid profile except my triglyceride level which is 502. My doc says that it isn't a huge worry yet. I am scared. I am overweight and have started a modified atkins diet. Do I need to be concerned?? The doc says that he has seen people walking around with Triglyceride levels at 2000-3000. He asked me to come back in three months and rescreen and see if it's lower. Can I get some reassurance here? I know I need to lose weight. But am ok for right now?

triglycerides? I was just wondering if not totally fasting before blood work could have affected my results. I was told my triglycerides were 249 but my cholesterol was fine. I had a 12oz can of coke about two hours before my test. I have now been about to stave my self to death trying to figure out how to lower the triglyceride level. Someone told me the simple sugars in the soda my have temporarily raised my triglycerides and that i may not have a problem at all. I would love to hear from someone that knows about this sort of thing. Thanks i advance for any help or advice.

Does aspirin cause triglycerides levels to rise? I started taking baby aspirin since last 2 months, may be 1 or 2 a day. Recently i did a complete blood count and my triglycerides at 550, it never was that high. it always stayed at 230 over the last 6 years, even dropped to between 85 and 150 for almost 2 years. i started having irregular heart beat with bradychardia since sep 2007 and that time they did all the exams and concluded to be fine, including did a stress test/Ultrasound everything looked fine and doctors said it is episodic dues to my work stress etc. please share your thoughts. Thank you all.

Control Triglyceride Level? My husband's dietitian told him that foods contain high cholesterol do not contribute to human body's cholesterol level. Can it be true? I have always thought that the cholesterol in food will contribute to our body's cholesterol level.
About triglycerides? I'm 17 (171 cm; 53 kg) I take BC (diane 35) but my triglyceride level has been increasing a lot since I'm on BC, and it is at 238 (when the max level is 190). I have read the BC affects my triglycerid level, the thing is, I just can't stop taking it. The reason I take it is not for contraceptive reasons, I take it to diminish my dysmenorrhea, which is very severe (If weren't on the pill, the first 2 to 3 days of my 8 day period I couldn't come out of bed because of all the cramping that persists even though I take ibuprofen, buscopan or aspirin (I've tried them all basicly). My exams will start soon and next September I'm going off to university and the only options that my OBGYN gives me are: Stopping the BC OR switching to another BC (minigeste) which has a lower hormone level but I've taken in the past and gives me horrible nausea, insomnia, migraines and still affects my triglycerid level... Any suggections on what should I do? I'm panicking because I can't figure out what to do... EDIT (found my blood analysis report and encountered some mistakes): Total Cholesterol : 164 mg/dL (<190) HDL Cholesterol: 44 mg/dL (40-60) Triglycerids: 237 mg/dL (<180) to cynthia h: maybe the meds you're referring are only to extreme cases because my OBGYN didn't mention any of that, and seasonal and lybrel (not sure of the spelling) aren't available in my country - Portugal.

Triglycerides? What's the difference between cholesterol and triglycerides? What if your cholesterol levels are normal but your triglyceride levels are elevated? Do triglycerides come from the liver like cholesterol, or are they just fat?

What could cause my high triglyceride level? (over 600)? i've read several things over the net, so read this first before you give me the typical answers i've seen... i exercise more than most ppl. at least 3 hrs per day - 7 days a week. and my diet is fairly healthy - compared to 'the norm' or most people i know at any rate. non-smoker or any other type of drugs. neg for diabetes. rarely drink. i'm 28, a big guy (i box), 6'1, 280 lbs - even though im i pretty good shape, i am slightly overweight, but again - my size and lifestyle are in much better condition that the more 'healthy' people i know. i AM currently seeking medical attention/diagnosis for this, just thought i would bounce this off you guys to see if anybody has any thoughts.... thanks!
