13 year old that has high triglycerides? I'm 13 and went to the doctor a few days ago and they gave me a blood test. They said I had high triglycerides and to come again to take the test in the morning before I ate anything. Does this happen to a lot of 13 year olds? Is this normal?
Can the birth control pill cause high triglycerides? My tryglycerides are 320, and I saw on a website, that birth control pills, can be one of the causes. I have been taking the pill for 9 years. It really helps with my PMS , and at my age I wouldn't want to get pregnant. The doctor says I can only be on them a couple more years.
Does anyone have high Triglycerides and Hyper Thyroid? I got a full physical-- results of fasting blood test --Triglycerides 299 &Thyroid "barely" abnormal Hyper. I am not losing weight, I am overweight, I'm 5'2" 140 lb. My dad has to test his blood sugar several times a day (does not yet take medication) and my paternal grandmother has diabetes, but my blood sugar came back 87. I have had several situations where I get clammy, shaky so much so I can hardly walk, anxious & have nausea, after I get some food it takes about a 1/2 hr. to feel normal again. I also get real tired in the afternoon, plus I have hemorhoid problems which might have to be removed surgically (yes, I am a mess). I will be following up with my Doc but does anyone out there have these types of problems & how have you handled them? Thanks for all constructive advice--please don't tell me to get off my fat butt and get some exercise--I do swim, do water aerobics and get on my treadmill. Thank you in advance to all who reply.
Are high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and diabetes related.? My husband is 47, runs 3 miles 3 X a week, isn't overweight., doesn't smoke and eats healthy. He is on medicine for high blood pressure and high colesteral. Now the Dr. says his tests show high triglycerides and diabetes. Most everything I read says that loosing weight and exercising should keep these things under control. Has anyone else had to deal with this?
Please Help! My triglycerides are sky high! Why is this? About 6 months ago I had a lab test, and my cholesterol was about 200, HDL, and LDL were perfect, but my triglycerides were 970! I was started on a high dose of Vytorin, and several months later my triglycerides came down to about 485. Well, I just had another blood test yesterday, and my triglycerides are back up to 587. My cholesterol is 169 and the other tests are completely in normal range. I am not overweight, and eat a pretty healthy diet. Could this be hereditary? My aunt also has high triglycerides, but her other lipids are normal. Any good suggestions on what I should do? I see the dr. on Monday. Thanks in advance!
Is cappachino high in Cholesterol and Triglycerides? I love cappachino and drink it 2-3 times a week from the gas station Quik Trip. I went to the Dr and had my blood drawn and found out my Cholesterol and Triglycerides and LDL is high, and the Dr was wondering about my diet. This is just a question I have, what is the Cholesterol and Triglcerides and LDL in cappachino??

What's causing high triglycerides?! - Help!!!? My mother underwent a kidney removal a few years ago. At the time, she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. She has been under a doctor's observation ever since. Over the last several years her triglyceredes count has been steadily increasing and now is at the critical level. It is at 467, as of today. She waches her diet and walks at least 30 minutes per day. Yet, her triglycereds remain high! Does anyone know what could be causing these high levels of triglyceredes and how can it be lowered in her situation? Thank you to anyone and everyone, who can help!!!
Symptoms of high cholesterol and triglycerides? My total cholesterol is 239, triglyecerides are 274, and LDL is 143. Can this condition make you FEEL like you have hypoglycemia? Why do I get shaky, sick, and feel like I am starving all of a sudden like my sugar is low when my blood sugar test turned out great? Do cholesterol and triglycerides give you the same kind of symptoms or is something else going on? i am only 23 and i am getting ready to be treated for cholesterol with zocor if my dieting doesn't bring these levels down within the next 3 months. i was just up late and wondering if this can make you feel like you have low blood sugar. or what are some symptoms that come with it because i can't find them on the internet??
High Cholesterol / Triglycerides treatment w/out statins? Does anyone know of a Dr. in Houston that doesn't use Statin Drugs for high cholesterol and high triglycerides? I am taking TWO statins and want to get off of at least one, if not both of them. I would like to find someone with experience in doing this treatment. Thanks!
Very High Triglycerides? Hi, My mother came here to visit us here in US and she has a very high triglycerides (850 mg/ml and I think the normal dose is 200 mg/ml) . We went to the pharmacy to get some medicine but they said we need prescription. She does not have health insurance so it will be very expensive for us to visit any doctor specially they will ask for lab result for sure. I don't know what to do. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
My triglycerides are almost 500, but I don't have high cholesterol? My triglycerides are 490. I don't have high cholesterol......but I've been drinking like a fish. The doc wants to put me on meds, but I thought not drinking was a better idea (2wks no alcohol so far). What should I do? ALSO.....if I am put on meds for high triglycerides, does that mess up my chances of getting health insurance?

HIGH TRIGLYCERIDES question? I recently had my blood work done and my cholesterol is a little high but mt triglycerides have skyrocketed. I'm a 41 y.old male 5'9 200 pounds, I have not eaten fast foods or any high saturated fatty foods in 2 years, also I've been taking omega 3 and flax seed oil for 5 years! My doctor told me to cut out the high fatty foods but I really don't eat crap food, nor red meat. Now I really have not been that active in the past 2 years, I work 6 ten hour shifts behind a desk then come home cook dinner and right to the couch, then to bed. Can anyone tell me the symptoms of high triglycerides, the past 6 months i've been very lazy, not much energy?
Underweight, normal cholesterol, but very high triglycerides? At 90ish lbs I'm slightly underweight (according to my Body Mass Index of 18), I don't eat more than 1000 calories a day (not much of an appetite), and my total cholesterol is 180 (HDL 55, LDL unknown), BUT my triglyceride level is 500 (which is too high for accurate LDL calculation). This was after 12 hours of fasting, and no one in my family has high triglycerides. I had the test done at a free community screening event, and won't have health insurance or a doctor until about a month or so from now. In the meantime, does anyone have any ideas about my high triglycerides or if I should be concerned? (I know I at least don't have to worry about pancreatitis because that usually only occurs with triglyceride levels above 1000.) Thanks for any help! Blood sugar was also normal, so diabetes is not a concern

EXTREMELY High Triglycerides ??? ? My dad is 40 and has high blood pressure and high cholesterol ( all these things run in the family ) & his triglycerides are 444 ( normal is 150) so his are REALLY right. He has changed to eating aol meal and Cheerios for breakfast rather than Egg and bacon or sausage ( something he has been eating his whole life). Also he is now eating whole wheal bread and light butter. He is also starting to exercises regularly. So, now that you have the basics, my question is..... what are some low cholesterol & low saturated fat meals he can eat? (please include recipes and Cholesterol and saturated fat content if possible.) Thanks in advance!
Mystery medical case - high triglycerides.? Please help! My mother has been going to doctor after doctor trying to figure out what is wrong with her. She has a history of obesity but lost some weight through Nutrisystem and then started a regimen of walking five times a week. She had to stop because her feet and ankles were swelling profusely (like baseballs) and she was having electrifying pain up her legs. I thought it was because she was overweight, but the amount of pain she was experiencing was not commensurate with her weight. The doctors told her that it wasn't normal to have such pain. Additionally, her triglycerides are sky-high (even with meds), she has overall high cholesterol, and after eating, experiences swelling and hardness in her stomach along with gas. I am nervous because there is a history of internal cancers in my family. The doctor knows about the history, but has yet to find anything. I also worry because my mother has a large stomach that would make it more difficult to find tumors or abnormal growths. I am hoping that these symptoms may ring a bell to someone out there. Any serious suggestions I can look into are welcome. Also, I should have added that she had her gallbladder removed 15 years ago. It was full of gallstones - I am not sure if it was removed for that reason or a different one.
Very high triglycerides (878)... diet advice? I'm male, 32, vegetarian, 5'10", 176 lbs. I recently got some blood levels checked, and apart from slightly-higher-than-average LDL and slightly-lower-than-average HDL, my triglycerides value is 878 (eight hundred and seventy eight). That's pretty high, it seems. Now: 1. I used to average 10 drinks a week; it's down to three. 2. I used to smoke 40 a day; I've quit. 3. I used to get zero exercise; I now walk an hour a day. I'll get on to more serious exercise when I can, but what should I be doing about my diet? I'm vegetarian, but I'd eat 300 grams of cheese as part of breakfast every once in a while (Brie, in case you're wondering!), or use about 80 grams of butter on my bread. Things like that... But there's this whole thing about what to avoid: alcohol, or fat, or carbohydrates, or sugar?? I'm lost! Until I had this checkup, I'd never thought about diet... Please help! I've been prescribed medication, and given my lifestyle changes, how long would it take for the TG to come down?
What is the best way to lower triglycerides? Does a high carb diet contribute to high triglycerides, or is it only if they are excess calories? And why do I ask questions to people that are more igorant of the subject matter than myself?
VERY High Triglycerides ...? I went to my Dr for some things and found out yesterday that my triglycerides are at 500. She was concerned and is having me retest my blood... I fasted the night before my blood work.. she said that my cholesterol was OK so whats going on? Blood Pressure was also good... I am really worried so any advice would help.. Blessings, Heather I also want to add.. I was just doing some research and I see that fasting should be done for 12 hours... I was told not to eat after midnight... My fasting time was 8 1/2 hours... could that make a difference? To the rude person telling me to stop eating fried foods and such... I have to say that I don't. I am a healthy eater... That was just plain ignornant...

Thyroid cont ion w/ high triglycerides...any suggestions for getting it lower? I am being medicated for a hypothyroidism. I got test results today that show that my thyroid is getting back to normal but my triglycerides are at 255. My colesteral is fine. I try to eat a low fat diet (been rough with the holidays) and don't eat a lot of sweets. I don't want to go on more medication. Any suggestions? My doctor mentioned some drug that blocks fat? What would they put you on to reduce your triglycerides?
Extreemly High Triglycerides? Wow.. I don't know if I should cry or just jump off a building.. hehe Just kidding on the jumping part :-). But I've had bad luck this year :-(. First a lump in my neck labeled as being a "Warthin's Tumor". Which added to my stress, Which lead to high blood pressure (Hypotension) Took water pills for the hypotension, Which lead to dangerously low Potassium levels (In the 1 range).. Dropped water pills and took potassium pills.. Which lead to 2 cancelations of my surgery.. (low potassium) Potassium pills finally kicked in and surgery was a go. Surgery complete.. No tumor.. Don't have paper in front of me.. But it was basically and over worked gland. Ok.. Surgery over... Follow up with family doctor.. Blood pressures ok and potassium is ok.. Lets do nothing for 3 months.. OK... 3 Months later.. Blood pressures still in check as along with everything.. See me again in 3 months.. Go get blood work done... Day of office visit.. .. (continued) Blood pressure checked.. 123/82... Yippie!!! Best blood pressure reading yet!.. Laughs at nurse and says.. "whew no pills for me".. She smiles and say the doctor will discuss this with you when she comes in... She leaves doctor enters with a bombshell! Triglycerides are 891!! Normal is 30-190! Tells me to take Tricor or 4 weeks and see what happens..? I am worried because my diet hasn't changed and all this was tested before.. What would make that jump that high.. and what's the best to lower it besides meds? Glucose was high too.. 146 And LDL was 28? Does that mean I am getting diabetes? Im so confused.. Has anyone had triglycerides that high?? And I fasted 12 hours before the blood test.
31 year old man with very high triglycerides and experiencing night sweats.? I am not very overweight, at 5'10" and 81kg, and I have a relatively healthy lifestyle although I do smoke quite a bit. When I last had blood-work done all of my cholesterol levels were fine except the triglycerides which were nearly off-the-chart. The night-sweats are getting worse now, so I know I will need to see a specialist, I just wanted to know if any other men have experienced this combination and might give me an idea what to prepare for. Online, all I seem to find for this combination is hormone imbalance or menopause, the former I have no other symptoms and the latter.. well, that would just be impossible wouldn't it!
My doctor just told me that my triglycerides are high. He recommended fish oil pills x3perday.? Ok I know I am overweight. Yet I never suspected triglycerides to be high and I am not 100% I even know what triglycerides are. I read the info online about them and it seems to be very confusing. How do you lower your triglycerides and get healthy? The fat just doesn't seem to want to go in my mid-section. So what now? And which fish oil supplements won't make me smell like fish? or taste it? I heard they made you burp yucky smelling ugh! I don't eat a whole lot of red meat but I will cut it out 95% if that's what it takes.
Low HDL & triglycerides, but high HDL? My cholesterol test came back from the doc saying my total cholesterol is 221. My triglycerides were 83 and my HDL was 61, which the doc says is good, but my LDL was 141. I eat lots of whole grains and fruits/veggies and I exercise an hour a day, 6 days a week. What can be causing the high LDL, and how can I lower it?
I just had my yearly physical, and my triglycerides are high..? My Total clorestoral is 184, which is good. My HDL is 33, but preferrably should be above 40 or higher. My LDL is 104, Less than 130 is ok, and less than 100 is preferred. The bad news is that my Triglycerides are at 237 and should be less than 150. How do I lower the triglycerides in a healthy manner? For anybody who has dealt with this, What did you do? I don't eat a lot of fried foods, and have been eating more fish for several years now. Any suggestions?
Triglycerides waaaaaaaay too high!? My total cholesterol is normal but my doc said my Triglycerides are waaaaaaaaaaay too high....they've hit the 200's and two years ago were normal. I'm not a big steak eater....I don't eat fast food....I actually competed in an Ironman in 2004, I do yoga, and brazilian jiu jitsu. What could cause my tri's to shoot up so high? I read that I'm at risk for heart attack but I'm only 35. WTH!!! Could stress raise my tris?
