Easier said than done, though. I worry about my liver functions holding up over time with the conventional medications. could there be reason to believe an improvement in cholesterol readings have reduced atheroscolosis? my father's cholesterol levels have been gradually improving in the past 18 months since starting rosuvastatin (Crestor). Even though I do not have the exact readings with me currently. I am well aware that his LDL and triglycerides are significantly dropping and HDL levels have also increased although not dramatically. What I would kindly like to know is does an improvement in cholesterol readings have reduced the amount of blockages in his arteries?
Anyone knows a naturally existing reducing agent? Or a better idea than mine...? Making soap from animal fat on my farm with K2CO3 (ash water), giving fatty acids. My plan is to take half the amount of fatty acid and treat it with a reducing agent to give a primary alcohol (not a terminal carbonyl). Reacting this with the other half would synthesize alkyl ester (candle wax)! 2 triglyceride + (xs) K2CO3 → 6 fatty acids 3 fatty acids + R. AGENT → 3 alcohol chains 3 fatty acids +3 alcohol chains → wax! From what can I extract or synthesize a strong reducing agent. I needs to be readily available..(like in the wood, NOT in a mining cave 1km under crust, NOT from the urine a wakitashi only living on Taolirilo island...) something I can growth or (if its coming from an animal source) that I can raise. Not certain of the above reaction, inform me of any problems. Alkyl ester has a relatively high m.p. (10-20C over RT) but, I don’t know if the degree of unsaturation will affect it. What are the side reactions and by-products? Any other relevant informations
Anybody knows, how triglyceride can be reduced? I need these information for my father, he is about 60.

Vibrations help slim abdomen? Do you think that if I shake for 15 minutes a day, it is the same effect? Hey all - so this story just came out today (read story below) - it was in all the papers. Do you think that I can just shake my body for 15 minutes a day- I dont have a vibrating floor... what do you all think?? How should I shake my body? Do I have to do it for 15 minutes straight or can i break it up?? Has anyone ever tried this? All feedback will be appreciated! "A Maine researcher says standing on a vibrating platform for 15 minutes a day could help people achieve washboard abs. Clifford Rosen from The Jackson Laboratory and Maine Medical Center Research Institute says his study put mice on a vibrating platform for 15 minutes a day for 15 weeks. He says the mice developed 27 percent fewer abdominal fat cells and saw other benefits, including reduced triglycerides in the liver. The mice didn't lose weight but Rosen says it appears that the vibrations changed fat distribution in a beneficial way." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071023/ap_on_he_me/vibrations_fat

Blood Tests & Results Narrowed Down to Common Answers? Hi. I recently had a fasting blood panel done. I am trying to connect ALL the high results to lament terms. I have done several searches on each one individually. But is there anyway to see if these all connect to maybe one underlying factor? The results are as follows: 110 Chloride; 167 Triglycerides;113 LDL (calculated); 15.7 Hemoglobin; 7.60 Absolute Neutrophils. Again, these are all recorded Highs. I do know that I have to reduce fat & sodium in my diet. I also have a family history of HBP, Cancer, Diabetes, & Heart Disease.(nice genes huh?) So any info on what these highs all mean will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
For any experts or medical people that know a lot about the liver...? because my ALT/AST was mildly elevated (132) and the ultrasound showed a fatty liver, my gastroenterologist assumed that its the reason my liver is inflammed (nash). But anyway I'm not obese, but overweight and at the time been having high cholesterol and triglycerides for a while. As instructed, I lost like about a good 15 lbs over the course of 2 months, change my diet to low - fat but high in fiber/vegetable/fruit diet, no potato chips and I exercise regularly for 40 minutes doing cardio. According to the BMI I went from overweight to ideal normal weight...getting a blood test in Feb. What are the chances that I have reduced the fat on my liver? Due to the fact that I am overweight but not anymore, will my choelsterol/triglycerides lower? Have I reduced the liver's inflammation by lessening the fat intake? I hear you can reverse this over time (roughly 2 years) if you change ur lifestyle....any thoughts?
high blood pressure question? I went to my doctor last tuesday, and my blood pressure was 140/90. Now, I must say that I am obese, but I have cut out all the junk food and fast food from my diet, drastically reduced my sodium intake, eating more fruit and veggies, and exercising more (I'm using the stationary bike and my mini step and I am powerwalking). I am also drinking more water and none of the sugary stuff like soda. My dr. gave me a month, to see if my pressure goes down. There are other factors though: I have been taking allergy medication, like Alavert and claritin, and I have been stressed lately, and my cholestrol level is 161 (down from 239) but my triglycerides is 178 (a bit high) My question is: besides, the things I mentioned above, what else can I do to lower my blood pressure. FYI: I also have a juicer , so if you have any natural juice receipes I could use that would lower my b.p. that will be great. no pets at home; I am allegeric to pet dander I forgot to mention that my doctor gave me a month to lower my pressure on my own without meds. Also, does me being anemic (because I am) has anything to do with the high blood pressure?
What diagnostic tests and medications are needed for this patient? A 62-year old male(non-smoker, no known allergies) has the following medical conditions: Characteristics of angina commonly include a sensation of pressure, heavy weight, burning, or tightness over the sternum or near to it. The pain may radiate to, or occassionally be limited to, the left arm, shoulder, or other areas. The sensation gradually increases in intensity and then gradually disappears with rest. The duration is usually between 30 seconds and 30 minutes. Hypertension is defined by persistent elevation of arterial blood pressure. Hyperlipidemia is defined as an elevation of one or more of the following: cholesterol, cholesterol esters, phospholipids or triglycerides. Abnormalities of plasma lipids can result in a predisposition to coronary, cerebrovascular, and peripheral vascular arterial disease. He is taking the following medications: Irbesartan 300mg mane(what does "mane" mean?) Used for treatment of hypertension and prevention of renal disease progression in patients with type 2 diabetes, hypertention and microalbuminuria. Gemfibrozil 600mg bd(twice daily) Used in treatment of severe hypertriglyceridaemia, mixed hyperlipidaemia and dyslipidaemia associated with diabetes, and used to reduce risk of coronary heart disease in hypercholesterolaemia. Glyceryl Trinitrate Tablets 600mcg; half to one prn(when necessary) Used in the prevention and treatment of stable and angina and heart failure associated with acute myocardial infarction. Provides exogenous source of nitric oxide. Predominantly venodilators and reduces venous return and preload to the heart, reducing myocardial oxygen requirement. Glyceryl Trinitrate spray 400mcg (1 spray when required); use prn Also known as nitroglycerine and GTN. It is used in the treatment of angina by providing an exgenous source of nitric oxide which mediates vasodilator effects. His medical test results are: -Blood Pressure 140/90 -Liver Function Test Total protein=63g/L(normal 60-80g/L);Albumin 27g/L(normal 35-52g/L);ALT=19U/L(normal 38-126U/L);GGT=154U/L(normal 12-43U/L);ALP=177(normal 38-126U/L) Question 1: From the liver function test results, what information can we obtain regarding the patient's medical condition? Question 2: What further diagnostic tests are needed to know more about the patient's medical condition(including diabetes due to heavy weight)? Question 3: What are the appropriate therapies(what medicines, and dosage for each?) for effective treatment, avoidance of side effects, increased compliance, and cost-effectiveness? Question 4: Without other symptoms, the patient shows dry cough. What is the cause of this cough?
can one Red Grapefruit a day Lowers Cholesterol? http://websites.afar.org/site/PageServer?pagename=IA_l_nutr_redgf Researchers in Israel have published findings in The Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry that suggest eating red grapefruit can help reduce cholesterol in some patients who do not respond to statins, a class of drugs that millions of patients take to lower “bad” cholesterol levels. The researchers tested 57 patients between the ages of 39 to 72 who had undergone coronary bypass surgery and who failed to respond to simvastin, one of the popular statin drugs on the market. They divided the patients into three groups: The first ate one red grapefruit daily; the second ate one white grapefruit daily; and the third ate no grapefruit at all. Except for the grapefruit, study participants consumed identical diets. None took lipid-lowering drugs during the study. After one month, the group that ate one red grapefruit a day had significantly decreased blood levels of triglycerides. Antioxidant activity was also higher, as it was in the group that ate one white grapefruit a day. There were no differences in the heart rate, blood pressure, or weight between the study groups and the control group. Reviewed by: Barbara Shukitt-Hale, Ph.D., Tufts University Published: May 2006

my non-alcoholic fatty liver inflammation...? would like some insight thank you? so my doctor says because of my elevated ALT and ultrasound showing of fatty liver he says I probably have mild inflmmation due to the extensive fat around my liver and from high triglycerides/cholesterol To treat this, I have lost weight to my ideal as well as eating more healthy and basically avoiding junk food. Exercising 5-6 days a week for 40 minutes. I will get another blood test later on. My question is: by doing this have I improved my liver condition? I hear it can be reversible I wonder if I have done so. Have I helped treat this inflammation by trying to reduce fat around my liver? Can I still have a normal life span? I hope this condition won't shorten my lifespan I'm only 26

what natural or alternative things, herbs, and foods will reduce high blood pressure. Was just told I have? early stages of retinopathy that is either related to blood sugar problems or more likely he feels hypertensive retinopathy. My blood pressure started running in the 155 to 170 or so range over 80-90 in the last several months. I am afraid to take medical drugs, yet don't want to eventually go blind from blood vessels breaking in my eye as I had three relatives go blood from other causes and it is awful. I also have high cholesterol, triglycerides and am overweight but can't seem to lose it so please try to focus mostly on the blood pressure in this answer if possible although you can add additional suggestions for other problems if you wish but blood pressure reduction is main focus and retinopathy, what alternative things will get it into normal range or at least back to borderline where it had been previous. thanks
